The Foreign Fund Exchange feature is used to specify the exchange rate for foreign currencies.

A record must be configured for each foreign currency that will be accepted at the point-of-sale:

[NOTE:  As exchange rates change frequently, this setup must be updated periodically to ensure you are receiving the proper rates for foreign currency.]

  1. Select the Tools menu, then follow this pathway:

System Configuration --> POS --> Foreign Fund Exchange

      2. The Foreign Fund Exchange window will appear. This window will display any foreign funds that are configured.  Click the Add icon to add a new foreign currency.

      3. A new line will open – you must add information for the new currency – refer to the table below for details.

Field

Description

ID

Enter a unique, 1-character identifier to identify the Foreign Fund record.

Code

Enter a short code (maximum 4 letters) to represent the Foreign Fund record (e.g. USD for US dollars, CDN for Canadian dollars, etc.).

Description

Enter a description (maximum 20 characters) of the Foreign Fund record.

This will be displayed at the point-of-sale when the cashier selects the Foreign Fund tender.

Rate

Specify the rate at which you will convert the foreign currency to your local currency – this rate is printed on the transaction receipt.

The rate is calculated by determining how much of your local currency is required to purchase 1 of the foreign currency.

For example, if 1 Canadian Dollar is worth 10 South African Rand, the rate a Canadian store would set would be $0.10.

      4. Manually select each field and enter the required information, pressing the Enter key on your keyboard after each input.  Once complete, select the Cancel button to close the Foreign Fund Exchange window.
